Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures at Aesthetic Dentistry in Rockland County

What does it take to achieve the smile of your dreams? Anyone wanting a bright, beautiful smile should visit a cosmetic dentist. Aesthetic Dentistry of Rockland County offers the procedures you need to ensure that you dramatically enhance the appearance of your smile. Our cosmetic dentist Dr. Natalya Petlyuk is an amazing practitioner, who helped dozens of happy patients to obtain a beautiful smile. Her approach is one at the intersection of art and science, from assessing the look, the perception, and the lighting, to creating your new beautiful smile from a ground up on a solid scientific foundation.

If you are considering a cosmetic dentistry procedure, you probably have a number of questions that you want answers to. Here are a few of the more common questions that we receive about our cosmetic dentistry procedures.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a type of dental veneer, which is a thin sheet attached to existing teeth in order to alter their appearance for a more aesthetic look. The procedure itself involves the removal of a small amount of tooth enamel on treated teeth. This allows us to place a special adhesive onto the tooth to affix your new porcelain veneer onto it. One caution is that, since some tooth structure must be removed to receive a porcelain veneer, this treatment is permanent. There is no going back; so carefully consider your treatment options before receiving porcelain veneers. You can see the results of our treatments in theSmile Gallery here.

What is teeth bleaching?

Have your teeth become stained as you have grown older? Aesthetic Dentistry of Rockland County offers fast teeth whitening treatment to brighten your smile several shades in only one office visit. Although at-home teeth whitening treatments are available, they are no match for the dramatic results that you can achieve by visiting your dentist office.

Dental Implants

Do you have one or more missing teeth? If so, dental implants make an excellent treatment option. The actual dental implant consists of three parts: a metal post, abutment and dental crown. During your first appointment, a metal post made of titanium will be placed in your jawbone. Once your jawbone has fused onto the titanium post, which usually takes three to five months, we will place a dental crown on top of the abutment to complete your dental implant.

Dental implants have become very popular because they have the highest documented success rate among tooth replacement options. The titanium used is strong and durable when mixed with other metals. Also, titanium will not react organically in your mouth.

One of the problems that dental implants prevent is bone loss, medically known as resorption. Whenever you have one or more missing teeth, your jawbone will begin to deteriorate. This is because the jawbone senses the presence of a tooth root and fuses with it to provide support. Your dental implant serves as a replacement tooth root to help prevent this kind of bone loss.

If you have gone for a while with a missing tooth, this does not necessarily mean that you cannot have a dental implant. In most cases, we can perform a bone graft procedure to provide the needed bone support for the placement of a new dental implant.

Another problem prevented by dental implants is something that tends to happen when there is a gap in your smile. Large spaces in between teeth can eventually lead surrounding teeth to shift into this empty space, leading to large gaps between teeth that can be a cosmetic concern, or problems with the bite.

What is Invisalign?

Are you looking for a teeth straightening solution that does not involve traditional metal braces? Invisalign makes a great choice for anyone who desires to straighten their teeth without everyone necessarily knowing about it. No wires or brackets are involved, and the appliances are virtually invisible.

The Invisalign system consists of clear plastic aligners that are swapped out a couple of times a month to continually shift your teeth into proper positions. During treatment, you can conveniently remove your aligners to clean your teeth or eat food.

Patients love the fact that there are no food restrictions with Invisalign like with traditional braces. You just need to make sure that they remain in your mouth for about 22 hours a day so that they are doing their job in shifting your teeth according to your treatment plan.

Our cosmetic dentist Dr. Natalya Petlyuk is a certified Invisalign provider, who helped many patients to achieve a smile of their dreams through Invisalign.
